Charity

There are a lot of different opinions about what charity really is in our society. For some, it is nothing more than a hand out, often for no other reason other than guilt. For others, it is a passion, and a chance to give others a chance!

The opinion you have about what charity really means says a lot about you.

For many, charity seems to accomplish very little. To them, the entire idea of giving money to a group designed not to make a profit sounds absurd. For them, charities are a waste of time, and do little more good than providing jobs for people who might not be able to make it in any other line of work. Needless to say, these types of people tend to be very bitter, both about giving and about life itself.

This mind set must be changed! It must be realised that those who tend to be the most generous are in fact those who lean towards being the happiest. Our efforts are aimed at enhancing the establishment of what we call “a new economic model”, aimed at the changing of pre-set acceptance from childhood, from Go Getters, to Go Givers! The act of giving to someone in need actually triggers chemicals activating in one’s brain a feeling of gladness. This is one possible explanation for the idea of karma, and how giving to others tends to result in the greatest happiness.

Lakes are shrinking while the regularity of rainfall has certainly decreased and had its impact world renowned natural heritage sites. So what are the issues facing us today? Clearly climate change is the big issue. The environment, population and poverty are three underlying matters that we need to focus on, namely:

If we do not tackle these issues urgently, with or without climate change, we will face a grim future. Mankind is growing at alarming rates.

We all see changes that are detrimental to our future, almost on a daily basis, due to the environment. Melting ice caps are resulting in higher ocean levels with the associated dangers to coastal civilization. Flooding in parts of the world where one would never have anticipated is now regularity. Devastating earthquakes and at times tsunamis now seem to be forming a regular cycle. Water scarcity is increasing at alarming rates, at times requiring power rationing because of the low levels of dams. More and more species are facing extinction while there seems to be little we can do about it. Oil reserves are depleting and yet we have not in all seriousness found other cost effective sources of energy. We are destroying ourselves and even if we can’t fully stop it, through a trillion apologies to Mother earth, we can slow the trend and manage it.

The objective of Aquasis Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd is providing the framework to which we can all give back. We are Social Environmentalists creating a working relationship through our intangible innovations at grass root levels, that facilitate charitable and ecological restoration projects on a long-term basis aimed at cultural transformation to create a more socially just and environmentally sustainable world. We believe that civil society as individuals can make the difference. While we don’t profess to have all the answers, there is a considerable amount that we can all do if we just take the “Yes we can!” approach. Amidst the doom and gloom there is always a ray of sunshine for us to find.
